The Notch (JM-33776)

The Notch (JM-33776)

The colors of late fall are typically a variety of brown and russet shades in southern Wisconsin because the forests are dominated by oaks. This view, of the notch between Wildcat Ridge and Mount Pisgah, from Wildcat Mountain State Park, is typical of the muted tones when the scattered maples and aspens have shed their leaves. However, the notch also reveals the rugged terrain of numerous ridges and valleys near the Kickapoo River in Vernon County.
