The Council (12-119)

Stands of old-growth white pine are a dominant feature within Council Grounds State Park along the Wisconsin River in Merrill, WI. Large trees are found along the Big Pines Trail and within the Krueger Pines Scientific Area. The site was historically an old council or gathering area for Native Americans. I felt that this group of five "Council Members" represented the area's history and were perhaps a witness to early tribal gatherings amid the white pines along the river.
