Autumn Blend (JM-20192)
Early October in northern Bayfield County, Wisconsin. At this time of year, autumn colors are just beginning in some parts of the north country whereas other spots are at "peak." This part of the county is usually "behind" areas to the south when summer "blends" into fall. Red maples here are turning bright red or orange when those farther south may have already lost their leaves. The differences are due to the impact of nearby Lake Superior, or at least I think that is the reason. As a photographer, I would sometimes rather just enjoy a chance to prolong the fall beauty, rather than try to understand why the seasons behave as they do.
